Three years ago one of the best things ever happened for me.I joined the U.K. civil service.Joanna Whittington took a chance on an outsider to co-lead the Carbon Capture Programme.I encourage you to join too.This programme is vital to enable energy security, grow the economy, and decarbonise industries we all rely on.I am lucky to work alongside brilliant, intelligent, creative, diverse, dedicated and hard working colleagues, industry partners, other governments, associations, scientists and more. Together we will achieve great things.This is the hardest, most important and enjoyable work I’ve ever done.It builds on nearly 30 years of experience and friendships in the private sector and I’m continuing to learn so much on so many levels.I am incredibly grateful. GCCA – Global Cement and Concrete Association and Clean Energy Ministerial CCUS Initiative thank you for taking the carbon management agenda forward so well at COP28 UAE.Having the weight of the US and China special envoys for climate, John Kerry, and Xie Zhenhua, share with us all publicly their national commitments in abating emissions gives good cause for optimism to us all.
